Soil Parameters Monitoring Pilot for France Galop in Paris, France.

Project Details.

  • Customer: France Galop

  • Project Partner: Murata

  • Challenge: France Galop is the governing body of flat and steeplechase horse racing in France. Within the framework of embracing new technologies, France Galop decided to test a system that will be able to manage automatically the irrigation system of the horse raising fields based on retrieved soil parameters. This will reduce significantly their operation cost, potentially save them resources cost by reducing water consumption and finally, assure that the horse raising fields receive the proper amount of water and at the proper time.
Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is a Japanese manufacturer of electronic components, based in Nagaokakyo, Kyoto. Among others Murata manufactures a state-of-the-art Soil Parameters Monitoring Sensor. Murata, a partner of our company in previous projects, reached out to us to provide the required telemetry technology and software tools.

  • Solution Provided

    • Initially we established a LoRaWAN Network at the selected France Galop horse raising field in Paris by deploying one Kerlink Wirnet iStations Outdoor LoRaWAN Gateway. This provided the required LoRaWAN coverage for the communication with the field sensors.

    • Murata Soil Sensors provide Modbus-RTU signal output and thus have been connected on Milesight UC501 LoRaWAN Multi-Interface Controllers with integrated PV Panel. The Milesight controller provides the required power to the sensors to take the measurements and transmits the measurements through LoRaWAN to our cloud IoT Platform. France Galop is able to monitor at any time the Soil Parameters of the horse raising field through the cloud platform and our mobile application.
